The Senate has passed for Second Reading, a Bill for an Act to make it an offense for vacant positions in the Federal Civil Service to be filled without being advertised.
The Bill, sponsored by Biodun Olujimi, representing Ekiti South was drafted to reduce the increasing rate of illegal recruitment into Federal Government agencies.
Olujimi lamented that the falling standard of education can be attributed to the fact that educational qualifications are no longer criteria for employment and as such there is Godfatherism, nepotism, favoritism and ethnicity in the course of employment.
Speaking on the development, Senate President, Bukola Saraki stated that the Bill will give millions of Nigerians a sense of belonging in terms of employment.
He subsequently referred the Bill to the Committee on Establishment and Public Services with instructions to report back to the Senate plenary in 4 weeks.
