Nigeria’s Super Eagles are seeking double victory over rivals, the Black Stars of Ghana, when the two African powerhouses meet in tomorrow’s finals of the WAFU Cup of Nations holding in Ghana.
In Thursday’s semi-final matches, the two giants had smooth sail into the finals as Nigeria defeated Benin Republic 1-0 while host Ghana beat Niger Republic 2-0.
There will be so much to play for as the final match offers the Black Stars the opportunity to avenge their 0-2 defeat in the hands of the Super Eagles in their last group match.
The reigning NPFL highest goal scorer Anthony Okpotu of Lobi Stars opened the scores, before Plateau United’s Peter Eneji made it two, to seal victory for the Super Eagles.
According to Anthony Okpotu, the pressure will be more on their opponents who would be playing before their home fans with revenge in mind.
Okpotu said they will do everything possible to do the double over the Black Stars.
The existing rivalry between the two neighbours will be rekindled with the Black Stars enjoying home advantage but the Eagles are not lying low as they have promised to lift the trophy and prize money that is at stake.
The winner of tomorrow’s final will smile home with a trophy and one hundred thousand Dollar prize money.
