Business moguls urged to invest in Local Manufacturing
By Jabir Ridwan Business men and women in Sokoto state have been urged to invest in local manufacturing for the growth and development of the state economy. The call was made by a Sokoto business man, Kabiru Umar Dodo, while reacting on today’s edition of Vision Fm’s audience participatory program Sakkwatawa Kwallahiya on the topic: “Role of Business men in empowering youth’’. Kabiru Umar Dodo said there was need for the involvement of both the private and public business owners to invest in the local industries, saying that the economic sector in the state is facing challenges to include shortage of industries and investors in the state among others. He, however, said investing in small scale industry in the state will increase revenue generation, and therefore called on government to play its role in providing loans to small scale medium enterprise. Another guest on the program, Dr Shamsu kabiru, expressed the need for the government to provide stable electricity in the state for the development of industries adding that the issue of involving business men and not politicians in economic sector should be prioritized. A caller who contributed during the program described some of the moribund industries as resulting to the current situation of unemployment among the youths.
