1999 CONSTITUTION IMPOSED ON NIGERIANS - OMO AGEGE

The Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo Agege, has described the 1999 constitution as a constitution imposed on the Nigerian public by the Military.

He said it is not necessarily the constitution of the people.Omo Agege stated this earlier today at the Public hearing on constitutional review holding at Sultan Maccido institute for Qur'anic and General studies in Sokoto.Represented by the Chairman of the Committee for Northwest 2 consisting, Sokoto, Kevin and Zamfara, Muhammad Adamu Aliero, Omo Agege said this necessitated the review of the constitution.Meanwhile, the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has described democracy as the best form of government despite its numerous challenges.The Governor, represented by his deputy, spoke today at the Zonal Public hearing of the constitution holding in Sokoto.The governor, therefore, called on participants to put public interest forward, urging them to engage effectively and objectively.
