Policy makers charged to adopt strategies that would enhance the participation of PWDs in Sokoto state

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Program Manager Inclusive Friends Association Stephen Idoko has called on policy makers to adopt strategies that would enhance the participation of people with special needs in Sokoto state.
Idoku made the plea during a one day consultative meeting, tagged "enhancing people with special needs voter's participation in the electoral process.
It was organized by Inclusive Friends association.
Stephen Idoko said the gathering was meant to enhancing PDW voter's participation in the electoral process, as enshrined in the 2022 electoral act signed by president Muhammadu Buhari in February this year.
He noted that, in order to ensure full partipation of people with special needs in politics and electoral process, Radio drama would soon be launched for proper sensitization.
Also speaking, Sokoto Resident electoral Commissioner of INEC Dr Nura Ali, represented by Gender desk officer Aisha Abdullahi, said the commission has made adequate provision for people with special needs to cast their votes without any hindrance.
Also speaking, state commandant of the Nigeria security and Civil defense corp Muhammad Saleh Dada, represented by Head of crises management department DC Florence Awosan said disability desk office was introduced at all the 23 Local Government in the state so as to protect the rights of people with disability.
State director NOA Abubakar Mode Danchadi commended the association and INEC for organizing series of programs for people with disability to participate in the forthcoming polls.
