WORLD FOOD DAY: Sokoto Sets up Committee to help Farmers Affect by Flood

As part of efforts to alleviate the sufferings of flood victims, Sokoto state government has set up a committee to ascertain the level of the damage caused by the flood to farmers in the state.
This is contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Agriculture, Muktar Dodo Iya.
The Commissioner of the Ministry, Alhaji Arzika Tureta, said the committee will be led by Dr. Muhd Jabbi Kilgori.
Speaking to commemorate the World Food Day, the commissioner spoke through his Permanent Secretary Alhaji Umar Muhammad Wali.
The Commissioner directed the committee to fashion out how to enhance farming activities in the state for commercial purposes and not only for consumption.
Kilgori said famers should also take advantage of accessing sesame seedlings, fertilizer, sprayers and insecticide to boost sesame farming in the state.
He said the Sokoto state government is committed to providing enabling environment for efficient food production so as to sustainably eliminate hunger.
